1. Overview

This policy describes how refunds work for Chapeta paid plans. It should be read together with our Terms of Service (Section 4, Plans & Billing) and our Privacy Policy.

2. Merchant of Record

All purchases are processed by Paddle, our merchant of record. Paddle handles payment processing, invoicing, sales tax, and VAT. Refunds are issued by Paddle to the original payment method.

Purchases are also subject to Paddle's Terms of Service and Paddle's Privacy Policy.

3. Pro Subscription (Monthly and Annual)

You can cancel your Pro subscription (monthly or annual) at any time through the Paddle customer portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period - you keep access until then.

Except where required by applicable law, subscription fees are non-refundable and partial billing periods are not prorated. However, we may grant refunds at our discretion in cases such as:

  • Accidental duplicate purchases.
  • Persistent technical issues that prevent you from using the service, where we are unable to resolve the problem.
  • Charges that occurred after you attempted to cancel but cancellation did not process correctly.

4. BYOK One-Time Purchase ($29.99)

The Bring Your Own Key unlock is a one-time digital purchase. Because it grants immediate access to features, it is generally non-refundable.

BYOK refund requests must be submitted within 24 hours of purchase.

Within that 24-hour window, we may grant refunds at our discretion in cases such as:

  • Accidental duplicate purchases.
  • Purchase made in error (for example, you intended to subscribe to Pro instead).
  • Persistent technical issues that prevent you from using BYOK features, where we are unable to resolve the problem.

5. How to Request a Refund

To request a refund:

  • Email support@chapeta.net with your Paddle transaction ID or receipt email and a brief description of the reason.
  • Or use the cancellation and refund options available in your Paddle customer portal (linked in your purchase receipt email).

For BYOK purchases, submit your request within 24 hours of purchase.

We aim to respond to refund requests within 3 business days.

6. Processing Time

Once a refund is approved, Paddle typically processes it within 5-10 business days. The exact timing depends on your payment method and financial institution. Refunds are issued to the original payment method used at checkout.

7. Your Consumer Rights

Nothing in this policy limits any non-waivable refund rights you may have under applicable consumer protection law, including but not limited to EU/EEA right-of-withdrawal rules for digital content purchases.
