Global Hotkey
One shortcut to summon Chapeta from anywhere. Default: Cmd+Shift+Space.
Chapeta registers a global keyboard shortcut that works from any app, any fullscreen mode, any context. Press the hotkey to toggle the Chapeta panel. Press it again to dismiss. Your workflow never breaks.
How to Set Up
- Open Chapeta settings (gear icon or Cmd+,).
- Go to the General tab.
- Find the Keyboard Shortcut section.
- Click the shortcut field and press your desired key combination.
- The default is Cmd+Shift+Space. Any modifier+key combination works.
What You Get
Toggle Panel
Press the hotkey to show or hide the Chapeta panel. If hidden, it appears at your cursor position. If visible, it dismisses.
Quick Paste
With text selected, press the hotkey to open Chapeta with the selected text pre-filled as context.
Technical Details
Chapeta uses CGEvent taps to register a system-wide hotkey. The shortcut works even when Chapeta is not the frontmost app, including inside fullscreen applications. The hotkey registration happens at the Carbon event layer for maximum compatibility.
