Menu Bar

Chapeta lives in your menu bar. Left-click to toggle, right-click for options.

Chapeta places a small icon in your Mac menu bar. Left-click the icon to toggle the AI panel. Right-click for a context menu with quick access to settings, quit, and more. The menu bar icon is your home base for Chapeta.

How to Set Up

  1. Install and launch Chapeta. The menu bar icon appears automatically.
  2. Left-click the icon to open or close the Chapeta panel.
  3. Right-click the icon for the context menu.
  4. The icon position in the menu bar can be rearranged by holding Command and dragging.

What You Get

Left-Click Toggle

Click the menu bar icon to show or hide the Chapeta panel. The panel appears anchored below the menu bar icon.

Right-Click Context Menu

Right-click for quick access to Settings, About, Check for Updates, and Quit.

Status Indicator

The menu bar icon subtly changes when Chapeta is processing a request, giving you a passive status indicator.

Technical Details

Chapeta uses NSStatusItem to place an icon in the macOS menu bar. The panel is implemented as an NSPanel with the appropriate window level to appear above other windows. The popover behavior is managed through NSPopover with event monitoring for click-away dismissal.
